His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who serves as the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and holds the position of Ruler of Dubai, has issued an order for the release of 836 prisoners from Dubai’s correctional facilities. This decision comes in anticipation of the Eid Al Adha celebrations.
The initiative taken by Sheikh Mohammed underscores his commitment to fostering happiness among the families of those incarcerated and providing the prisoners with a second chance to reintegrate into society. By granting this pardon, Sheikh Mohammed aims to offer the released individuals an opportunity to begin anew and contribute positively to their communities.
The Attorney General of Dubai, Chancellor Essam Issa Al Humaidan, confirmed that the Dubai Public Prosecution, in collaboration with Dubai Police, has started the necessary legal procedures to ensure the swift implementation of Sheikh Mohammed’s directive.
This gesture of clemency ahead of Eid Al Adha not only highlights the benevolence of the Ruler of Dubai but also reflects a broader commitment to restorative justice, offering a path for rehabilitation and societal reintegration for the pardoned individuals.
