The easing of travel restrictions by New Zealand is set to boost tourism between the country and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), as travelers can now visit with increased caution rather than avoiding non-essential travel altogether. This change is expected to further support the UAE’s efforts to revitalize its tourism sector, which has been recovering steadily following disruptions from regional conflicts.
New Zealand’s decision to lower its travel advisory from Level 3 to Level 2 means that citizens can now travel to or transit through the UAE more freely, while being advised to stay alert and follow local security guidelines. Richard Kay, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the UAE, expressed his approval of the updated guidance, highlighting the renewed opportunities for travel between the two nations.
This development comes at a time when Dubai, a key city in the UAE, is witnessing a significant recovery in international visitor numbers. In August, Dubai recorded 869,000 international overnight visitors, marking the highest monthly figure since February. Hotel occupancy rates have also improved, rising to 66 percent in August compared to just 36 percent in March.
The UAE has been working diligently to remove travel advisories from various countries to aid the resurgence of its tourism and aviation industries. While some nations have already relaxed their warnings, others continue to recommend caution or advise against non-essential travel. The easing of New Zealand’s advisory is a positive step towards encouraging travel demand and supporting the UAE’s economic recovery.
