Dubai is poised for a transformative phase of economic growth with the announcement of a Dh2.1 trillion project pipeline by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The extensive portfolio covers key sectors such as real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure, aiming to bolster the emirate’s status as a global business and investment hub.

In a statement at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum, Sheikh Mohammed outlined a vision of creating a “city within a city.” This ambitious development strategy includes significant investments in real estate, with Dh1.1 trillion dedicated to developing approximately 350,000 residential units by 2030 to meet the housing demands of a growing population.

The aviation sector is set for substantial enhancement, with Dh128 billion allocated to expand Al Maktoum International Airport to handle up to 260 million passengers annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion will be used to grow the fleets of Emirates and flydubai, alongside Dh18.7 billion for a new engineering and maintenance complex for Emirates.

Infrastructure improvements are also a major component of the plan. The project pipeline includes Dh100 billion for road enhancements and the expansion of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. Further, Dh151 billion is earmarked for strengthening electricity and water networks, while Dh80 billion will support the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.

Financial services will also see a boost, with Dh100 billion set aside for the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre, enhancing international business infrastructure and services.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of long-term planning and infrastructure development, highlighting the emirate’s strategy to invest ahead of future demand. This forward-looking approach seeks to expand housing, improve transport connectivity, increase aviation capacity, and enhance essential services, all while supporting economic diversification and attracting international investment.
