The United Arab Emirates has announced a notable decrease in fuel prices for July, bringing relief to motorists who have been experiencing heightened fuel costs in recent months. This development comes in response to improved conditions in global oil markets that had previously been disrupted, leading to rising costs.
The Fuel Price Committee implemented cuts across all fuel categories, including Super 98, Special 95, E-Plus, and diesel. This adjustment marks the first such reduction since February, aligning with the declining global crude oil prices as regional supply conditions have strengthened. Notably, the cost of Super 98 petrol has been reduced to Dh3.40 per litre from Dh3.95, while Special 95 and E-Plus have also seen decreases exceeding 50 fils per litre. Diesel prices experienced the most significant drop, decreasing by 73 fils to Dh3.60 per litre.
The reduction in prices follows a period in June when global oil prices eased. This was largely due to a decline in fears over prolonged disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, as diplomatic efforts contributed to stabilizing the situation. The price of Brent crude has since moved closer to levels observed before the conflict.
Although fuel prices are still higher than at the beginning of the year, the adjustments for July offer some financial relief to commuters and families. Analysts suggest that future fuel prices will largely hinge on the stability of geopolitical tensions and the continued recovery of global oil supply.
