The strengthening ties between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) could pave the way for enhanced collaboration in sectors such as defense, artificial intelligence, and nuclear energy. This potential expansion of cooperation was underscored during a recent meeting between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi.
At Cheong Wa Dae on Friday, President Lee reaffirmed the importance of the partnership established during his state visit to the UAE last November. He emphasized the need for sustained communication to transform mutual interests into tangible projects. Lee also expressed gratitude for the UAE’s prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier this year, highlighting a crucial aspect of their economic relationship.
Al Mubarak, conveying greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, acknowledged South Korea as a vital partner. He noted that the scope of cooperation has grown beyond traditional sectors like energy and infrastructure to include investment, space, healthcare, and education. This broadening of collaborative efforts reflects a deepening bond between the two nations.
