Breakthrough in Gaza: Hamas “Basically” Agrees to Trump’s Proposal

by admin477351

A significant breakthrough has been achieved in efforts to end the two-year Gaza war, as US Secretary of State Marco Rubio revealed that Hamas has “basically” agreed to President Donald Trump’s proposal. The deal, now described as “90 per cent done,” centers on a hostage exchange and a plan for post-war governance.

The cornerstone of the agreement is the release of all Israeli hostages. In a reciprocal move, Israel is prepared to pull its military forces back to the “yellow line,” its position in mid-August. This exchange is the top priority and is currently being finalized.

Looking ahead, the framework also includes a commitment from Hamas to discuss the future of Gaza. Rubio stated that the group has agreed “in principle and generalities” to participate in shaping a post-conflict plan, a key demand from international mediators.

President Trump has lauded the framework as a “great deal for Israel” and has put maximum pressure on Hamas to comply. He warned the group’s leaders of “complete obliteration” if they refuse to cede power, while also confirming that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu supports the plan.

With the fundamental terms agreed upon, the process now moves to technical discussions to iron out the logistics. Rubio said these talks will “very quickly” determine if Hamas is truly committed to peace, bringing the region to a critical juncture.
