President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomed the Israel-Iran ceasefire in a phone conversation with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, expressing optimism that the truce would contribute to long-term peace and stability across the Middle East.
Sheikh Mohamed commended Qatar’s diplomatic efforts in securing the agreement and highlighted the importance of continued coordination to ensure its effective implementation. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to regional cooperation and solidarity.
The call also addressed recent regional tensions following a failed Iranian strike on Al Udeid Airbase in Qatar. Sheikh Mohamed condemned the attack and pledged the UAE’s full support for Qatar’s sovereignty and security. He also extended concern for the safety of Qatari citizens and reiterated support for any measures Qatar takes to protect its people.
Both leaders underscored the significance of Gulf unity in navigating current geopolitical challenges. Their discussion coincided with the 49th Extraordinary Meeting of the GCC Ministerial Council in Doha, where foreign ministers focused on reinforcing joint Gulf initiatives and regional stability.
